Liberal Reforms in Ohio: Trick or Treat? (Part I)

Check out my new posting over at www.thespis148.redstate.org

Calling all Republicans nationwide and especially in Ohio: have you even heard of state issues 2, 3, 4, and 5 which are being marketed in a made-to-order, unsavory liberal soup called “Reform Ohio Now”? These so-called reforms would have a destructive impact on voter rights, discount the fundamental concept of individual voter responsibility, and attempt to reverse the legitimate outcome of many recent elections.

Moreover, the “Reform Ohio Now” movement exists simply to slap Ken Blackwell in the face, and simultaneously skew future Ohio elections in favor of democrat candidates for all statewide offices and congressional seats. The democrats, liberals, and the mainstream media have been on a yearlong campaign to repay Mr. Blackwell, Ohio’s Secretary of State, for “stealing” the Ohio election for George W. Bush last November. And, as you know, these liberals won’t let the incontrovertible evidence surrounding the 2004 election stop their insatiable desire to punish Ken Blackwell, and the more than 2.8 million voters who supported George W. Bush in Ohio! They are willing to fundamentally alter Ohio’s election system based upon the false perception promulgated by all the national networks and liberal organizations that Ohio’s election in 2004 is equal to the election debacle in Florida of 2000.

The liberal’s premise is faulty, however they will not allow a flawed hypothesis to stop their attempt to capitalize on a warped perception promoted by the democrats and their allies in the media on election night 2004.. In Ohio, we conservatives remember quite well the treatment of Ohio by ABC, NBC, and CBS, CNN, and MSNBC. While these other networks were creating their own story (the story they wanted to exist: voter fraud, and election irregularities in Ohio) Michael Barone at Fox News demonstrated his intricate knowledge of nearly every county in Ohio. Barone compared and contrasted the vote totals and voter turn-out from Warren, Butler, Claremont, and other strong Republican counties with Cuyahoga County (strong Democrat territory) and made the case early in the evening that Bush looked to be winning Ohio. Mr. Barone, and Ken Mehlman, who was on every network who would have him, turned out to be over ninety percent accurate in their prediction of the Ohio vote totals. WOW! The networks haven’t been able to claim an over ninety percent accuracy rate on an election night since Reagan/Mondale in 1984.

Ian Schwartz, the political teen, has a virtual smorgasbord of information refuting any claim to fraud or irregularities in the 2004 Ohio election. You can read all of Ian’s comments and links at on his web site.

On June 23 2005, Captain Ed at www.captainsquartersblog.com detailed a post-mortem on the Ohio election. With strong research Captain Ed produced an article replete with documented verification reminding voters that the election fraud that did occur was on the part of democrats, “So, yes, Virginia, there was voter fraud in Ohio. What the “Exempt Media” wants to keep from us is that it occurred on behalf of the Democrats. The race, unlike in Wisconsin and Washington, wasn't close enough for it to make a difference. For that, Ohioans can be grateful.” The marvelous guys at www.powerlineblog.com strongly support Captain Ed in their post of October 22, 2004 wherein the democrats were found to have registered a terrorist to vote. This is unbelievable.

And, finally to prove that the most recent Ohio election was not fraudulent and therefore demands no remedy, each of the liberal myths are totally debunked in this lengthy and well-documented article at the Ohio GOP website.

Point by point, all of the complaints against the election procedures, and against Mr. Blackwell have been destroyed. So why then do the voters in Ohio need “Reform Ohio Now?” Answer: the citizens of Ohio do not need to amend their state constitution to fix problems which do not exist. Furthermore, while Ohio has problems with its elections that are roughly similar with other states, the election problems are not at all addressed in issues 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Ken Mehlman has stated of the 2004 Ohio election that, "The undisputed facts in Ohio are: Democrat officials had to be stopped by the courts from misleading voters about the day of the election; a Democrat affiliated group paid a worker in crack cocaine to submit fraudulent voter forms; and Democrat allies attempted to disenfranchise Ohio voters by submitting registration cards for Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy and Michael Jordan. Republicans will continue to register and inspire new voters, make it easier for everyone to vote at the polls and protect everyone's franchise from being cancelled out by illegal or fraudulent registration."
